SHARE YOUR STORY
Your Voice Matters
You don't need to be a historian or a great storyteller - you just need to have lived here, worked here, or loved here. Every memory, from the everyday to the extraordinary, adds another piece to our village story.
What Stories Are We Looking For?
Any memory connected to Legbourne or Little Cawthorpe is precious to us:
• Childhood Memories - School days, games you played, trouble you got into
• Working Life - Your first job, local businesses, farming, trades.
• Village Events - Fetes, celebrations, disasters, changes you witnessed
• People You Remember - Teachers, shopkeepers, characters, neighbours
• Family Traditions - Sunday routines, holiday customs, family stories
• How Things Used To Be - Shopping, transport, entertainment, communication
How It Works:
1. Get In Touch:
Phone Mike Cartwright 07738 082733 or
email cartwrightmike69@gmail.com
We'll have a friendly chat about what you might like to share.
2. We'll come to your home with a simple recorder
• Write It Down - Send us written memories and we'll read them aloud
3. Your Story, Your Way
• As Long or Short as You Like - Some stories take 5 minutes, others 30
• Completely Informal - Just like chatting with a friend
• You Keep Control - Review before we share, change your mind anytime
Memory Prompts to Get You Started:
If you're not sure where to begin, think about:
• What did the village look like when you were young?
• Who were the local characters everyone knew?
• What's the funniest thing that ever happened here?
• How did your family make ends meet?
• What traditions have we lost that you miss?
• What changes surprised you most?
• What would newcomers never guess about village life?
• What do you want young people to know about how things used to be?
Your Privacy Matters:
• You decide what we share and what stays private
• Full names optional - many contributors prefer just first names
• Family approval - we're happy to check with relatives first
• Change your mind anytime - recordings can be removed if you wish.
